I scored!

Deal number 1: I’m not sure how this happens, but all of Jace’s clothes fit him when I put him to bed at night, and then he wakes up the next morning and NOTHING fits anymore. I realized on Monday morning that Jace’s jammie pants are starting to get too tight for his chubby little belly so Ant and I went shopping for Pj’s that afternoon. And guess what? All of the stores have winter jammies out…only winter jammies! Why in the world are all of the racks full of flannel pj’s?! Last time I checked it was 100 million degrees outside and it is going to be hot for at least another month. That’s until it turns warm. Flannel jammie time is not until January and it only lasts for about month! We went to about 5 different stores and I started to panic when Anthony suggested Sears. My general feelings towards Sears can be summed up as “blegh” but I was getting desperate so we went…and we scored! They had summer pj’s on clearance! We got 3 piece sets for $3.99 and ended up with 7 shirts, 5 shorts, and 3 pants for $22!

Deal number 2: Target had diapers on sale, and if you have target store coupons they let you use your target coupons in addition to manufacturer coupons (in the coupon world this is called stacking, haha). So Anyway, I had a ton of coupons that were expired, and that were not exactly for what I was buying but I figured it would be worth a try. I got 6 jumbo packs of diapers, 180 wipes, a large bottle of aveeno baby wash, and 2 towels for $48. Regular price for everything: $85. Yippee!

Deal number 3: I went to Kid to Kid, this used kids store in Awatukee yesterday and I got a little ride on car that can also be pushed (kind of like a shopping cart) if you change the settings. I also got him this treehouse slide thing, a see n say, and this weird electronic book that he seemed incredibly interested in for $32. The price of all this stuff brand new would have been about $85, yeah!

They are having this big costume unveiling in September for Halloween costumes but I don’t know if I can put Jace in a used costume. I have this weird phobia of used clothes (from strangers). But I have no problem with used toys. So I guess I’m going to have to splurge on a costume. They had a cute penguin costume at Carters and I saw a really cute Bear costume somewhere else too but Anthony thought he should only wear the bear if it had blood dripping down its mouth….hmmm. I also saw a really cute Peter pan costume. Sooo many choices, this is what I’m going to spend my 2 minutes of free time a day doing over the next month

Oh, and last but not least, Jace and I have been cruising in an Infiniti G37 for the last two days while my car gets a new timing chain. Take your time mechanics, take your time! We could get used to this!

Here are some pictures of the Baptism in case you missed it and some other ones from last week or the weeks before...sometime around there

And two of the pics are stuck at the top of the post and I don't have time to deal with getting them to the bottom, sorry :-)

I'm bored

I always wish I had more time to do the millions of things I want to do. Jace went to bed at 8, and Anthony went to the movies with Craig so I have some time. By myself. To do whatever I want. And what am I doing? Oh nothing!!

I found a totally awesome website: www.etsy.com It's like ebay but everything is homemade so its way better (way better is a technical term). I decided instead of paying for stuff that other people make I am going to poach ideas and make everything myself. There is so much stuff, I suggest checking it out if you have three or four hours to spare so you can peruse the website.

I also looked at some pictures of celebrities and decided I need to do something with my hair...and my makeup...and my clothes. Ok I'll be honest, I don't style my hair, I don't wear makeup and I choose my clothes from a pile I keep on the floor. If I'm feeling fancy I put them in the dryer to dewrinkle. We went to dinner with Craig and Sam this weekend at a restaurant in Scottsdale so I tried to look a little fashionable (well I made sure I did not have any baby puke or snot on my clothes and I put on mascara).

Ah, the bathroom! I found some round red rugs and a really cute red tin pail (pail implies small but its pretty big) to use as a trash can. I picked my paint colors and I know what I am going to paint so all I need is maybe a soap pump and little cup or something.

Eventually I want to change out the light but I haven't told Anthony yet. Other things I haven't told Anthony are that I want to change the light in the entry way and the lights down the hallway. I started putting up picture frames in the hallway about a month ago and I FINALLY finished that today. I also have some projects in mind for the backyard but its still too hot so right now I'm still doing research. All of the plants in the front yard need to be trimmed and I want to plant a couple of shade trees in the back. But summer is so close to being over so we can finally go outside again and get started on my outdoor projects. Not that I really enjoy the outside but I like nice backyards and city outdoor areas like parks with green grass and that crushed rubber stuff instead of sand. Living in Phoenix has turned me into a big sissy. There was a time when I used to think it was fun to drive a quad through a mud puddle. Now all I can think about is how the mud would make my washing machine dirty. Blegh

Ant bolted all of our shelves to the walls today since we have a little climber. We still need the cabinets and drawers which are priority one. Jace is drawn to the outlet covers and the carbon monoxide detector in his room. I'm going to make him a sign that says "I'm Dangerous" and make him wear it everywhere. There was a very nice man sitting behind us in church(we had to sit in the bleachers because we were late as usual). Jace kept trying to grab at his toes, it was kind of weird. I can't wait to take pics of him in his baptism outfit. He looks really really cute. Anthony said he looked like a backstreet boy haha.

I recently noticed that Jace is never wearing pants in any of the pictures I post. He wears pants, just not at home because its hot and they are a pain to put on since he's so squirmy all the time. I thought I'd bring that up in case you were wondering :-)

Little Things

I was really excited for Jace to crawl and now I realize that was kind of dumb of me. On one side, its so great to see him getting around and becoming more mobile on his own, BUT he is also getting into everything I don't want him to! Instead of crawling around from toy to toy he crawls around from one piece of furniture to another so he can stand up and try to open drawers and cabinets. Its fun and exciting, but its really scary too. Jace's favorite non baby things: The trash can in the office, the drawers in the coffee table, the end table, my laptop, Anthony's sunglasses, water bottles, cell phones, keyboards, and he seems incredibly interested in the speaker stands.

Other new things: Jace got his third tooth earlier this week. When the first two teeth were breaking through he was really fussy and I could tell he was in so much pain off and on for about two weeks. This time I didn't even know the tooth was coming so that was really exciting! He is still really drooly so I wonder if there are more on the way.

He pulls himself up to standing at every opportunity he gets. The problem is that he gets stuck standing because he doesn't know how to get back down. I think his only tactic so far is to let go and accept the horrible fate of crashing onto the ground. I would say that we catch him about 80% of the time....not so great but it always comes out of nowhere and I don't have the best reflexes in the world!

He learned to clap last weekend and its so cute! He claps every time he gets excited so he's been doing a whole lot of clapping!

This video is from last weekend when Omar and Jenny came to visit. Earlier in the day, Anthony had grabbed an empty water bottle and screamed while he crushed it (my husband is the hulk). Jace must have thought it was funny because a few hours later he was doing the same thing. You always hear people say to watch what you do and say around kids because they will mimic. I thought that was when they were older but I guess it starts pretty early. Here's a short video of my mini hulk trying to crush a water bottle :-)

Last but not least, I finally decided how I am going to decorate Jace's bathroom. Pottery barn kids has alot of really cute Dr Seuss bath stuff so I got the shower curtain and towels and I'm going to try to do the rest cheapy-style so I'll be scouring TJ Max, and Target for some good deals and then of course, heading to my favorite store, Micheals for some new tools!

Here is the shower curtain:

Dr. Seuss™ Grommet Shower Curtain

And here are the towels:
Dr. Seuss™ Bath Towels

And here is the other stuff I'm going to have to make myself because I can't spend $40 on a trash can and $30 on a tiny little rug:
Primary Countertop Accessories

Round Dot Bath Mat

I think I am going to paitn the bathroom white and then mimic the waves of the water on the shower curtain along the bottom and I still haven't figured out how to incorporate red paint. So yeah, I'm in way over my head but I LOVE a good project!
